Our Innovation Focus
Enercoutim is facilitating the development of microgrid pilot projects in the Algarve region, supports R&D&I activities through its NZEB SOLAR LAB facility and recently developed research infrastructure. It operates the platform under plug and produce approach and currently works on integrating energy storage facility.
Our organisation is active in various European and International Research and Innovation programs.

Q1. What is the biggest challenge of Energy transition and reaching decarbonisation goals?
Research and Innovation
“Energy transition is not a one direction, it is a multivector and multi stakeholders journey that should address decarbonisation goals, engage all the stakeholders and generate value to SMEs, industry, engage the R&I ecosystem and beyond. Great to be part of it and drive the process forward!”
“We no longer can speak about an Energy Transition. We have to implement an Energy Transformation. If we are to stay within a 1,5ºC climate warming increase, the world needs to be Carbon Neutral by 2035. In order to achieve that, we need reduce Green House Gases by 8% per year starting now. Let's stop talking and start doing.”
“winning the climate race requires immediate, decisive, collective action from policymakers, industry players, financial institutions and civil society organisations.”
"The energy transition is well underway. But huge challenges still stand in the way of decarbonisation. The biggest challenge facing energy transition is the lack of readiness among the world’s largest emitters."
“Electrification of transports is a big challenge still ahead of us, and also the decarbonisation of industry and increased energy efficiency are critical for achieving a climate neutral Europe in 2050! Let’s work towards these goals, for the next generations!”
“The decentralization of the energy system. Single vendors and closed markets are slowing the energy transition because the new energy system requires a more open and inclusive space for all participants.”
“The complexity of such transition. We are forging our way through new technologies, ideas and laws in so many areas. Our best effort must be how we efficiently combine it all to achieve such goals.”
